1. Brushing Your Hair Frequently
Brushing your hair for shine is perhaps one of the common mistakes you can make in day to day life. You do not need more than 8 to 9 strokes with the hairbrush or comb a day, any more combing can damage your hair and scratch your scalp.
When you comb, stimulate the scalp and that helps to increase blood flow. The increased circulation brings with it more oxygen and nutrients, which nourish the hair roots and promote hair growth.
2. Not Oiling – Biggest Hair Care Mistake
If you think oiling doesn’t help your hair growth then you are wrong. Oiling nourishes your hair and makes it shiny. The primary purpose of oiling is as a prerequisite to condition the scalp. An oil massage also increases hair growth by stimulating the hair follicles and improving blood circulation to the scalp. Applying oil regularly prevents hair breakage. 3. Shampooing Daily
Washing hair daily will make the scalp dry as there is no natural oil in our hair to protect it from the dust, heat, and other damages and will lead to hair loss. You should shampoo regularly as it is the process of cleaning up the scalp and it is the basic hygiene requirements. The purpose of shampoo is to remove dirt or excess oil from the scalp.
So, try maintaining a proper shampoo routine to make your hair look good.
4. Combing and Heat Styling Wet Hair
When your hair is soaking wet, it is weaker, fragile, and more susceptible to breakage. Try not to rough-dry hair with a towel, and instead gently press the water out. Also, do not brush your hair while it is wet. Use a wide-tooth comb, working from the ends of your hair on up. Along with it, you should not dry your hair with an extremely heated hair dryer as it can burn the hair shaft and put a strain on the follicles, damaging them.
5. Sleeping with Open Hair
Sleeping with your hair down seems like the most natural way to go but can be doing more harm than good, especially if you have long hair. “Never go to bed without tying your hair up (for long hair), as loose hair can tangle.
Whether it’s in a braid, a loose bun, or wrapped with bobby pins, you will experience less breakage with your hair secure. This helps distribute the natural oil from your scalp throughout the rest of your hair.
